The Geary Community Schools Foundation invites you to the 17th annual Celebration of Teaching Banquet. This event honors excellence by USD 475 educators and awards scholarships to teachers and paraprofessionals for continuing education.
This year’s guest speaker is USD 475 alumnus Philesciono Canty, aka EZ Street. A 1983 graduate of Junction City High School, he also holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Media Communications with emphasis in Radio and Television from Kansas State University. He is a United States Marine Corps veteran retiring with honors as a Sergeant. He has vast work experience in radio and television.
Mr. Canty is a servant leader who supports and serves at-risk youth in Washington DC. He is the CEO and president of Creative Solutions 4 Youth, a 501c3 organization contracted by the District of Columbia to provide rehabilitation services to at-risk youth in the DC area. In 2022, Mr. Canty received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award for Community Service from President Joe Biden. This award recognizes citizens for outstanding volunteer contributions in community service to the United States.
